How to join

Once you have found a training centre near you, please do not hesitate to contact one of our Senior Instructors if you would like any more information.

Feel free to come along to one of the training centres to participate or just watch a class training. The first two nights of training are free - some clubs even have four nights of training for free so you can get a feel whether Pacific Sun Taekwondo is right for you.

The Senior or Branch Instructor for your training centre will make you feel welcome and will let you know what is involved in joining their centre.

Dojang (Training Hall) Etiquette

For many people the martial arts have been seen as different; maybe even a little mysterious. Much of that impression is due to the ceremonial bowing and general feeling of discipline maintained inside the training areas. Although some of the rules may seem unnecessary or a little over the top to the new student, once you've been training a little while, those rules will become an enjoyable part of your training and you'll realise their importance.

Some of the rules we observe in the Dojang are:

  • Before entering the dojang, remove all footwear
  • Do not enter the training area smoking, eating, chewing or drinking
  • Remove all jewellery before training, including watches, earrings, bracelets and necklaces
  • Before the official class begins, loosen up and practice. Talk if you wish but quietly while you work
  • Ask the senior grades for help if you need to, don't interrupt them if they are training, wait until they pause for a break
