The Opua branch of Pacific Sun Taekwondo is headed by the school’s most experienced instructor, Senior Instructor Paul Cochrane.

Senior Instructor Paul passed his 1st Dan Black Belt examination in 1984 under Instructor John Feast in Rotorua before moving to Northland and beginning what is believed to be the first Taekwondo club in the region, in Kerikeri.

He trained Trevor and Donella Harbrow (known for starting the Whangarei branches over 20 years ago) under the Rhee Taekwondo banner before moving to Pacific Sun Taekwondo in the mid-90s.

An excellent teacher, Senior Instructor Paul trains a passionate group at the Opua branch in perhaps the most picturesque location of all PSTKD branches, right in the heart of the Bay of Islands.
